Del 8 al 12 de abril el Hotel y Centro de Congresos Calista de la cuidad turca de Antalya será sede del 3rd International and 13th Academic Geriatrics Congress, organizado por la Sociedad Turca de Geriatría.
En este foro intervendrán reconocidos profesionales internacionales y nacionales expertos en sus campos, como por ejemplo, Juergen Bauer (Alemania), uno de los miembros de la junta del grupo de interés especial ESPEN «Nutrición en Geriatría» y miembro del grupo de autores EWGSOP; Tommy Cederholm (Suecia), presidente del grupo de interés especial ESPEN «Nutrición en Geriatría», miembro de los criterios GLIM en nutrición y grupo de autores EWGSOP; Jean Yves Reginster (Bélgica), presidente de ESCEO y fundador y miembro de la junta de IOF, una figura destacada en osteoporosis y osteoartritis; Mirko Petrovic (Bélgica), presidente de la junta académica de EuGMS y autor de numerosos estudios sobre el uso inadecuado de drogas en los adultos mayores; Saban Hakkı Önen (Francia), fundador y presidente del French Geriatric Sleep Center, especialistas en el campo de los trastornos del sueño y su relación con la cognición y las enfermedades cardiovasculares en los ancianos, o Fannie Önen (Francia), fundadora de IASRG, entre otros muchos.
Entre otros temas de gran interés, en el Congreso se hablará de tratamiento de enfermedades crónicas y síndromes geriátricos como demencia, depresión, delirio, osteoporosis, incontinencia, úlceras por presión, desnutrición, etc; de la evaluación ecográfica de la sarcopenia; de los últimos avances en neuropsiquiátrica; del papel de la atención domiciliaria, etc.
Y es que, tal y como afirma el Dr. Gülistan Bahat-Öztürk, Presidente del Congreso, “a medida que la población mayor crece más rápido en todo el mundo, los profesionales de la salud se enfrentan cada vez más a pacientes de edad más avanzada. Por lo tanto, el conocimiento sobre geriatría se está volviendo esencial para en todos los niveles de atención médica y en todas las ramas”.
